The Black and Blue Bike Tour

After months of impatient anticipation, and a week of no cycling (the ‘tapering’ recommended by all respectable training plans) I was back in the saddle and my bike tour was underway!

I arrived at Petchfield Farm almost on the dot of 9.30am, and the very lovely and friendly Kay and Chris (owners of Wheely Wonderful Cycling) briefed and prepared me and plied me with maps, and then the waiting was over and I was off!

Immediately the cycling was very pleasant – the weather perfect and the scenery pretty – as the route crossed and re-crossed the River Teme. I relaxed into a steady rhythm, stopping occasionally for a photo.

My reverie was interrupted by some lumpy bits around Hergest Ridge, which had me puffing away, but probably served as a good warm-up for the bigger climbs ahead (looking at you Gospel Pass 🤨).
