Episode 50 Series 17 Broadcast 16 May 2017 – Shropshire
Cycling in Shropshire – Chris Dartnell
We were really pleased to be asked by the BBC to be the local “cycling expert” on their programme Escape to the Country. Our task was to show an active family who wanted to move to Shropshire, all the great cycling in the county. Its the reason why we moved here to set up our cycling holiday business; quiet traffic free lanes, great scenery, and great food.
“The Quietest cycle tour under the Sun”
We spent a whole day filming last summer … at our base Petchfield Farm and along the route of our most popular cycling holiday “The Quietest Cycle Tour under the Sun. We filmed at Burrington Bridge, Hopton Castle, Clun and Clun Valley and Ludlow. The clips shown on the Escape to the Country programme, broadcast for the first time yesterday (16 May 2017). Great views, great cycling, castles and they even managed to fit in tea & cake at the Green Cafe in Ludlow. all the best elements of our cycling holiday. You can watch it on i-player and it will be repeated in future.
Alistair Appleton and Jules Hudson
Were filming in different parts of the Shropshire whilst we were filming the cycling. We thought that the programme was to be broadcast with Jules Hudson having a go at Blacksmithing at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm (so we have lots of photos of this) but actually – the programme went out with Alistair Appleton inspecting the new biomass boiler at Attingham Park. Both places can be visited on our Shropshire Castles Cycling holiday.
